National Training Council’s
Successful Engagement in Youth Resource Week
Youth Resource Week is an empowering initiative that brings together young people from Port Moresby City, fostering a spirit of collaboration and community. This event serves as a platform for youths to share valuable information, resources, and experiences that can significantly enhance their educational and employment prospects. With the youth population in the National Capital District (NCD) being notably high, this week-long event at Sir John Guise Stadium from 24th March to 28th March 2025 is crucial in addressing the challenges that many young individuals face in securing formal education and job opportunities.
Objectives and Activities
During Youth Resource Week, National Training Council joined in by sharing our scholarship program which is the National Scholarships Training Fund (NSTF) with an impressive 244 interested youths visited and signed up for the NSTF Scholarship, expressing their interests in scholarship opportunities. There are also various activities organized by participating companies and government entities to engage youths and promote skill development. Programs led by industry professionals cover topics such as resume writing, interview techniques, and skills training, equipping attendees with the tools they need to succeed in the job market. Additionally, informational sessions on educational opportunities, vocational training programs, and scholarships are provided, ensuring that young people have access to the knowledge they need to pursue their ambitions. By encouraging networking among peers and mentors, the event creates a supportive environment that fosters personal and professional growth.
Community Impact
The impact of Youth Resource Week extends beyond individual benefits; it contributes to the overall development of the community. National Training Council’s NSTF Scholarship Program aims at empowering the youths with the scholarship initiative to help reduce unemployment rates and encourages civic engagement among young citizens. The collaboration and resource-sharing during this week inspire participants to take charge of their futures and advocate for positive change within their communities. Ultimately, Youth Resource Week serves as a beacon of hope and opportunity, highlighting the potential of the youth in NCD and paving the way for a brighter, more prosperous future to our young Papua New Guineans.
